Marcelo Correa is a partner of the Firm.

Previously, he worked as an Actuary in the Third Criminal Court of Santiago (1997-1998).

Ignacio García

Ignacio García is a partner of the Firm.

His professional practice is focused on the Areas of Corporate and Labor Laws, as well as Customs Law and International Trade for the Firm. He advises the Firm’s clients, national and international, in corporate issues, labor contracts, litigation, immigration, social security, pensions, transfers of executives, downsizing and union negotiations. He is also a consultant in private international law matters, contracts and international trade, customs law, international trade defense for the World Trade Organization (WTO) and customs disputes.

He was previously a partner at Baker & McKenzie, where he worked for 16 years and where he founded and directed the Labor Group and the International Trade Practice.

Professor at the College of Law of the Pontificie Universidad Católica de Chile and the Universidad de Los Andes.

Cristóbal Porzio

Cristóbal Porzio is a partner of the Firm.

His areas of practice are focused on advising clients and litigation in matters of trademarks, patents, technology transfer and copyrights. He also represents the Firm’s clients in negotiation and contracts related to Industrial Property and in matters of unfair competition and advertising. His practice also includes Distribution and Franchising Law as well as Corporate Law.

He participates on the Board of Directors of various companies and serves as counsel for foreign companies in Chile.

Marino Porzio

Mr. Marino Porzio is a founding partner of the Firm. He is responsible for the overall direction of the same, in both its substantive and administrative aspects.

His professional practice is focused on advising clients and litigation for all aspects of Intellectual Property, with special emphasis on patents, trademarks, plant varieties, copyright and unfair competition issues.

In the past, he worked for 20 years in Geneva, Switzerland, as an officer of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), as Deputy General Director for almost 9 years (1979-1987). In this capacity he participated in the discussion of a series of international treaties regarding several Intellectual Property matters, as well as provided counsel to developing countries in the structuring of their Intellectual Property protection mechanisms.

Later he participated as Chilean delegate in the various meetings that led to the enactment of the Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS).

He was a professor at the Law School at the Universidad de Chile.

Arbitration:
- Member of the arbitrator core of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
- Referee of the Dispute Settlement System of the World Trade Organization (WTO). In the latter capacity he was part of the arbitral panel that resolved the claim of the United States Government against the Government of the People’s Republic of China for alleged breach of the TRIPS agreement.
- Arbitrator for the Arbitration and Mediation Centre of the Santiago de Chile’s Chamber of Commerce (CAM Santiago).

Mr. Porzio has published several articles and papers about Intellectual Property in various specialized magazines.

Hernán Ríos

Hernán Ríos de Marimon is a founding partner of the Firm.

His professional practice is focused on advising clients in the areas of litigation and trademarks, patents, copyrights, domain names on the internet. He also represents the Firm’s clients in negotiation and contracts related to Industrial Property and in matters of unfair competition and advertising. He also practices in matters of Insurance Law and in the field of Public and Private International Law.

Previously, he acted as counsel of the Chilean State’s Insurance Institute, of which he was Legal director. He was Legal Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1976-1985) and Ambassador of Chile before the Netherlands and Denmark (1985-1990).

He was a Law professor at the following: Pontificie Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad de Los Andes, Universidad Central, and Universidad Finis Terrae.

Josefina Mora

Josefina Mora joined the Firm in 2015.

Previously (2010-2015) Sargent & Krahn, Intellectual Property.

Her practice is focused on advising clients in the registration and protection of trademarks in Chile and abroad, as well as the resolution of disputes arising from the application and defense. She has vast experience in arbitration and revocation of domain names before the arbitrators NIC Chile and to the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). She also advises clients whose logos and other intellectual property rights are infringed by content uploaded to the Internet, and generally in privacy matters, advertising and consumer rights.

Nora Fanta

Nora Fanta was incorporated into the Firm in 2008.

Her professional practice is focused on consulting the Firm’s clients in the field of patent invention, in biotechnology matters, biochemistry, cosmetics, food products and bio-mining. More specifically, her duties include the development of patentability reports, composition of applications for inventions and associated proceedings of the same. Sandra Ferj

Sandra Ferj joined the Firm in 2005.

Her professional practice is focused on counseling clients of the Firm in the area of patents, in the pharmaceutical area, cosmetic, chemical, food and bio-mining. More specifically, she works on elaborating patent reports, drafting patent applications and prosecution of the same. Likewise, she provides to the legal team of the Firm all the necessary technical support for litigation in patent cases.

Rodrigo Navarrete

Rodrigo Navarrete was incorporated into the Firm in 2012.

Christian Ramírez

Christian Ramirez was incorporated into the Firm in 2005.

His professional practice is focused on design of mechanical parts (CAD), mechanical analysis (CAE) and manufacturing planning (CAM). Experience in non-traditional manufacturing processes and industrial robotics. Likewise his duties include consulting the Firm’s clients in Industrial Property matters, especially in all aspects of invention patents, national and international, search reports, evaluation of technologies, state of the art, preparation and composition of patent applications, in the fields of electricity, electronics and mechanics. He also provides all necessary technical support to the Firm’s judicial team in litigation cases for patent matters.

Other work experience:

European Southern Observatory (ESO) (2009 to current). Mechanical Engineer (part time) responsible for systems support for mirrors with 8 meter diameter and mechanical functioning of auxiliary telescopes at Paranal Observatory.

He was a Professor of automation and control systems as well as Machine Design, Department of Timber Engineering, College of Forestry Science at Universidad de Chile, (2000-2004). He was Assistant Professor in Material Technology (metal, polymers and ceramics) and of Technology of Metal, Polymer and Ceramics Manufacturing Processes, Universidad de Chile, College of Architecture and Urbanism, Department of Industrial Design (2002-2004).
